Blue Coat at YE Reading Area final
On Tuesday 14 March, Anarchy Clothing went to the Young Enterprise Reading Area Final at the Shehnai Banqueting Suite in Reading. Along with five competitor companies representing three other schools, Anarchy Clothing arrived to present their company to a panel of judges. All teams had 30 minutes to set up their display stands, which allowed them to show off their company’s products and achievements. Each team had prepared a four-minute presentation in advance which had to be delivered to an audience of judges, parents, competitor teams, and their supporters. At 4pm, five members of Anarchy Clothing rehearsed their presentation in front of one of the Young Enterprise volunteers, and some feedback advice was gratefully received. We then finished the display stand prior to the judge’s inquisition. The team answered the judge’s enquiries clearly and with precision, and some good scores went down on their mark sheets. Once the judging had finished, we had a 30-minute refreshment break to have a final run-through of the presentation, and socialise with the other teams.
Peter Doyle, founder of of Social Retail Group, inspired us with a talk about the power of social media in business networking and influence, followed by the awards presentation. Trophies were presented for participation, best presentation, innovation, best business plan, best bid at Dragon’s Den, best sales and marketing, runner’s up and the overall winner.
Anarchy Clothing took three awards – participation, best bid at Dragon’s Den and best sales and marketing. The atmosphere was amazing, and it was a great evening for all the teams. Anarchy Clothing members are proud of their achievements and how far they have come in this enterprise journey, although they are a little disappointed not to progress to the County final stage. Anarchy Clothing will continue to sell their sweatshirt stocks at a bargain price of just £10 (original price £17.95); just go to our website atwww.AnarchyClothing.co. The team has learnt a lot from this experience and will be able to implement their newly found skills later on in their careers.
Anarchy Clothing would like to thank Mr Bateman, Mr Nash-Wortham and our business advisor, Randall Hewitt, for all their support through this process.
