World Book Day

Today was World Book Day! Here’s how our staff and students celebrated…

Whole School House Competition 40 teachers were asked to wear badges with book character names. Prizes were awarded to the first 20 students to guess them all, with winners points going towards the House Shield.

Year 7 Drop Everything and Read (DEAR) – At three appointed times during WBD, staff announced in their lesson that it was DEAR time!  Students were then able to take a little time out from their lesson to read.

Year 8 Book Cover Competition – The English Department ran a book cover competition with Year 8s.

Year 7 Fantasy Creatures Art Competition – Our Head of Art, Mr Scott has given Year 7  the chance to design a fantastic creature, which will be made into a mural to be displayed in the Library.

And next week…Years 7-8 will be visited by the multi-million-copy-selling author Chris Bradford! Chris is best known for his children’s fictional series, Young Samurai, and we can’t wait to welcome him. Watch this space to find out more…

Thank you to Mrs Greenslade for organising a day with fun activities to inspire our students to love to read.
