Bronze DofE Qualifier Expedition
“At the start of the Easter break, twelve teams of 71 Year 10 pupils attended their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh qualifying expedition in the Pangbourne and Bradfield area. The weather for both days was ideal walking weather, dry and cool with daytime temperatures peaking at 8ºc degrees on Saturday and 14ºc degrees on Sunday, with the overnight temperature dropping to -2ºc!
The boys made quick progress on day one, having arrived at Rushall Manor Farm early on Saturday evening, where they set up camp for their overnight stay. The boys were commended on their culinary skills, with dinner menus on offer including chicken fajitas, cheese burgers, bacon burgers all garnished with fresh vegetables. After a very cold night the smell of bacon and scrambled eggs wafted over the West Berkshire countryside. With all teams packed and out of camp by 0830 the boys set off on their pre-planned routes. As per Day 1 the boys continued with their effective performance completing the route and debriefed by early Sunday afternoon.
Well done boys, look forward to seeing you on your Silver expeditions!”
