Whole School Open Morning – Saturday 17 May 2025

We warmly invite you and your family to join us at the Reading Blue Coat Open Morning, on Saturday 17 May 2025. Come along and visit our site, nestled within 46 acres of picturesque surroundings. Meet our Headmaster, Mr Pete Thomas, our dedicated staff, and our vibrant student body, and immerse yourselves in the spirit of our RBC community.

Sixth Form Open Evening – Tuesday 15 October 2024

Discover your future at Reading Blue Coat’s Sixth Form Open Evening!

Join us on Tuesday 15 October 2024 for an evening tailored to parents and students keen to explore the A Level options available at Reading Blue Coat.

The evening will include student-led tours of the school, a welcome talk from the Headmaster – Mr Pete Thomas, an introduction to Sixth Form life from the Director of Sixth Form and an opportunity to discuss academic subjects with Heads of Department.

This event is an ideal follow-up to our whole school Open Morning on Saturday 5 October, which provides an insight into academic departments and our extensive co-curricular programme, showcasing our fantastic Activities Programme, clubs and societies.

School Tours

Group tours of the School are led by a member of the Admissions Team during the course of a normal school day. The tours are for small groups of a maximum of five families, and it is suggested that parents attend without their children. Tours start at 10:30am and last for approximately two hours.  To book on to a tour, please call the Admissions department on 0118 933 5806.

Year 7 Kabir

Well, I made it into Reading Blue Coat and it’s possibly the best decision I have ever made! Every Monday we have an Adventure Education lesson, where we learn Mountaineering skills, Climbing, Sailing, Paddle Sports. There are many clubs and activities to choose from which keep me busy at lunchtimes! Spanish club is great fun, and I am also enjoying the Lego Robotics and Drama Technology clubs, and after my audition, I was invited to join the Treble choir! We learn many languages in rotation, including Latin. Science is amazing - our teachers never cease to surprise us with either an experiment using reactive chemicals or dissecting something! ​I am thoroughly enjoying Reading Blue Coat. From the moment I walked into the Richard Aldworth Building for the first time, I knew I would love it.  Everyone is really nice and I have made lots of friends already and can always rely on anyone to help me if I am lost or confused. I really like my teachers, especially Mrs Dance. Assemblies are always great as everyone comes together to celebrate all that has happened this week or, on Thursdays, sing a hymn and listen to a bible reading then have time to reflect. Year 8 Lorenzo

When I first arrived at RBCS, I felt quite apprehensive as none of my previous school friends joined. However, as soon as induction day started, all my worries washed away thanks to my kind peers, dedicated teachers, and fun activities. Throughout my time here, I have never felt that I was missing out on anything. I am very thankful to Blue Coat for offering me the opportunity to experience Model United Nations and Amnesty International; these activities have grown my ambition and helped me decide that I want to work for United Nations and help global equality. In addition, I feel that not many schools would offer all these options and give everyone the chance to discover who they want to become....

Having never been the most socially confident person, I was very nervous about starting both a new school and a new chapter of school life, especially being a new boy to Blue Coat. I cannot stress enough how much I have enjoyed the change. Everyone has been so lovely and I feel I have settled and fitted in so quickly. I joined Reading Blue Coat in September 2021, having been in an all-girls educational environment since joining nursery school when I was 2 years old and, though I was thoroughly enjoying being at a local girls' school, I felt it was time for me to invite a new challenge into my life. Therefore, I eagerly accepted an offer to join the RBC Sixth Form to study Geography, Psychology and Philosophy at A Level, as it would give me the opportunity of being educated in a much larger, co-educational setting. I joined Blue Coat in Year 8 and the school's size, benign teachers and collection of students stunned me. I was really impressed, and they accepted me into their community instantly, which made me feel at ease and my time here incredible. I'm in my first year of Sixth Form and it has been one of the best experiences of my life.
