A Perfect Summer Soirée

The Junior Public Speakers hosted their popular annual Summer Soirée on Thursday 24 May and, despite the weather’s best efforts, spirits were notdampened.

Parents and friends were treated to a feast of speeches, readings and sketches, with subjects ranging from the benefits of procrastination, holidays, war elephants, what’s in a name,

depression, growth mindset, and dumb criminals – to name but a few. Year 8s William and Samuel had the audience in stitches with their mis-speaking sketch. Accomplished Year 10 public speakers Ted and Miles were the compères for the evening, and the dynamic duo made an excellent job of providing the link between items, and making the audience look forward to each interjection from them. The perfect end to an excellent year of public speaking. – Mrs Bennett, Head of Public Speaking
