Schedule of Fees 2024-25

Registration fee: £100 Payable on registration and non-refundable.

Deposits: £1,250

£250  will be retained as a lifetime subscription to the Reading Blue Coat Foundation. The remaining £1,000 will be retained in the general funds of the School until the Pupil leaves and will be repaid by means of a credit without interest to the final payment of Fees or other sums due to the School on leaving or unless the Parents wish to donate the remaining amount to the School’s Foundation. Please see the School’s Terms and Conditions for information on how and when the Acceptance Deposit may be refunded.

Fees per term: £7,095 (ex. VAT) all year groups.

Fees include provision of text books up to GCSE, exercise books and facilities for games.  Extras

  • Public examinations taken at GCSE and in the Sixth Form.
  • School lunches (Charged termly in advance): £5.30 per day (£5.90 per day when purchased on an ad hoc basis)
  • Instrumental lessons
  • LAMDA lessons
  • Educational trips

Bursaries and Scholarships

Bursaries

The School has a strong history of providing fully funded places to pupils who would benefit from an education at the School, but for whom Independent Education is not financially viable. Each year, the School awards up to two Foundation Scholarships to new pupils entering either Year 7 or Year 12. These cover 100% of tuition fees, plus additional assistance to cover extra costs (lunches, transport, uniform, equipment, trips etc.).

Foundation Scholarships are awarded to applicants who have shown that they will benefit greatly from, and contribute to, the environment at Reading Blue Coat, but for whom education at an Independent School is not accessible owing to their family’s financial circumstances.

All applicants wishing to be considered for a Foundation Scholarship must contact the admissions office at admissions@rbcs.org.uk. The admissions office will provide prospective families with detail on how to apply.

Bursary applications for pupils joining the School in September 2025 should be submitted by the following dates:

Foundation Scholarships

Foundation Scholarships are bursaries worth 100% of school fees. Year 7 Kabir

Well, I made it into Reading Blue Coat and it’s possibly the best decision I have ever made! Every Monday we have an Adventure Education lesson, where we learn Mountaineering skills, Climbing, Sailing, Paddle Sports. There are many clubs and activities to choose from which keep me busy at lunchtimes! Spanish club is great fun, and I am also enjoying the Lego Robotics and Drama Technology clubs, and after my audition, I was invited to join the Treble choir! We learn many languages in rotation, including Latin. Science is amazing - our teachers never cease to surprise us with either an experiment using reactive chemicals or dissecting something! Having never been the most socially confident person, I was very nervous about starting both a new school and a new chapter of school life, especially being a new boy to Blue Coat. I joined Blue Coat in Year 8 and the school's size, benign teachers and collection of students stunned me. I don’t really have a favourite subject, as all of them offer something different and appeal to me in different ways.
