Year 13 Jim, Deputy Head of School
I don’t really have a favourite subject, as all of them offer something different and appeal to me in different ways. Looking back into History is hugely interesting and always leaves me learning to want more. Economics and Politics are hugely diverse subjects, which cover a wide range of highly relevant topics that have significantly helped my understanding of the world and the way the world functions.
I have just applied to study Law at university and after completing university I hope to become a barrister. To help support my applications, I have taken part in public speaking and Model United Nations, which have boosted my confidence and taught me how to make well-structured arguments and deliver them in a compelling way. My time as Deputy Head Boy has also significantly helped my organisational, communication and teamwork skills and also my self-confidence.
As well as the activities I have mentioned above, I take part in a wide range of other co-curricular activities. I have been a member of the Army Section of the CCF since Year 9 and I have risen to be Head of the CCF for this year. As well as this, I am completing my Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and have previously completed my Bronze Award. Furthermore, I take an active role in the Drama Department and this year I am the Deputy Stage Manager for Billy Elliot. Finally, I have played cricket throughout all of my time at Reading Blue Coat and I played for the 1st XI last season.
