National Schools Regatta 2022
As the dust has now settled after the National Schools Regatta last weekend, it is great to look back on what was a record breaking event for Blue Coat with the best ever overall results.
The standard of the event was higher than ever and it was fantastic to see the Blue Coat crews from years 9-13 being right in contention with the best school and club programmes in the country.
It was also fantastic to see the spectators back on the bank, bringing the event back to life after the behind closed doors regatta last year. The “Dorney Roar” was back and the incredible support from parents, friends and family produced a brilliant atmosphere which undoubtedly helped the crews.
The Blue Coat crews that raced were as follows and across all the crews the results were superb and a huge well done must go to all involved for how well they raced!!
J14-18 Crews;
J14 1st 8x+
J14 2nd 8x+
J15 4+
J15 8+
J16 8+
GJ18 2x
GJ18 1x (2 crews)
J18 4+
J18 8+
It was fantastic to see the numbers of boys and girls racing and full results can be found on the following link – https://regatta.time-team.nl/nsr/2022/results/c7da7351e-f739-4adc-bd1e-6942633f525f.php
A big thank you to the coaches for their hard work and dedication and to parents, friends and family who supported the crews so well. It was an outstanding boat club effort to produce the weekends results and everyone should feel very proud of their hard work to get to this point.
Lastly a big thanks to parents who sent over photographs of the crews, many of these photos have been added to this post.
We have a number of local events coming up this half term as well as the “big two” for the boys and girls, Henley Women’s Regatta and Henley Royal Regatta. Henley Royal Regatta will see a girls quad racing in the qualifying event for the Diamond Jubilee Challenge Cup (Junior Women’s Quads) for the first time in the schools history where the crew will race for a place in the historic regatta alongside the boys 1st eight which will be racing in the Princess Elizabeth Challenge Cup (Junior Men’s Eights).
