Model United Nations Successes

March has been a busy month for our Model United Nations students who have attended two conferences.

The first conference took place at Gordon’s School, where 26 students from Year 7 – Year 13 entered into a whirlwind of debates over two intense days.  They tackled a variety of pressing issues, including piracy in the South China Sea, the use of AI in healthcare, and the ever-controversial question of Taiwan.  Our talented delegates represented Slovenia, China, the USA, Ecuador, and Canada.  Congratulations to Emaad K, Lorenzo DF, Dan G, Aryan S, Matt K and Amy T who were all award winners.  Overall, Reading Blue Coat received an impressive 50% of the awards available for individuals, submitted 12 resolutions and 62 amendments over the weekend!

Hot on the heels of this success, our delegates packed their bags for a weekend at Haileybury College, one of the UK’s largest Model United Nations conferences, with nearly 700 participants!  Twenty five of our Blue Coat students represented the USA, Slovakia, the Gambia, Romania, and Portugal.  They engaged in debates on critical issues such as autonomous weapons, modern slavery, and debt relief in developing countries.  Special congratulations go to Mark S, Matt K, and Vihaan A for their award-winning performances.
