Thank you to retiring governor John Evans
John Evans, who has been a valued governor at Blue Coat since June 2010, retired from his role at the School this summer.
John spent his career at King’s College School, Wimbledon – initially as a teacher of modern languages, and then, successively, as Senior Housemaster and Senior Master, before being appointed Headmaster of King’s College Junior School. Retired since 2006, John pursued his interests in travel, the arts and charitable work, as well as educational matters. He was a governor of Ripley Court School, Surrey, and Dover College before joining the board of governors at Blue Coat in 2010, where he also represented the governors on the Education Committee.
His contribution assisted two headmasters, Mr Windsor and Mr Elzinga, in continuing to improve the high standard of education at the school.
At this year’s Senior Prize Giving, John stepped in at the last minute to deliver the key address – a speech full of wisdom and humour which proved to be very popular with parents, pupils, staff and guests alike. After the event, Mr Elzinga had an opportunity to thank John for all he has done for Blue Coat (pictured above). His contribution will be missed by the School and the governors. Thank you, John.
