At last week’s Futures Lunch we were delighted to welcome back Old Blue, Callum Barren-Williams (2022), who only recently left RBC to pursue an apprenticeship at IBM. Callum was keen to speak with current students about alternatives to undergraduate study and the applications process for competitive apprenticeships. He had some great advice, including an extremely helpful timeline and key tips for the process of applying to IBM and other opportunities. He also highlighted that employers look for candidates able to demonstrate ‘soft skills’. At RBC, both the academic and co-curricular opportunities help students develop their leadership, communication and team-working skills. It was great to have Callum confirm these are valuable in gaining entry to competitive fields. Thank you to Callum for sharing his experience to our current students.
