Keeping you posted READING B LUE COAT CONNECT sign up at www.readingbluecoatconnect.org.uk Reading Blue Coat Connect is a dynamic platform designed to foster a strong sense of community and connection amongst Old Blues. Built on the principles of collaboration and networking, this platform serves as a virtual home where OId Blues can connect and reconnect with old classmates, forge new professional relationships, and stay up-to-date with the latest news and events. One of the key features of Reading Blue Coat Connect is its robust directory, which allows Old Blues to search and connect with fellow alumni based on various criteria such as “Year of Leaving” “Location” or “Industry.” This facilitates networking opportunities, enabling Old Blues to tap into a diverse pool of talent and expertise. Whether you are seeking career advice, job opportunities, or simply want to catch up with old friends, the directory serves as a valuable resource. The platform also promotes alumni events and reunions, keeping the community informed and engaged. Through event listings Old Blues can stay connected and participate in various activities, including reunions, networking events, and guest speaker opportunities. The community on RBC Connect grows each day and this year we have started to welcome Parents onto the platform as it is the best way to stay connected to the School and to each other. Old Blues can offer their expertise and guidance to current students who may benefit from their insights and experiences. Reading Blue Coat is excited to announce that in 2024 we will be launching the School’s first Mentoring Programme. The Foundation Office will be working hand in hand with the Head of Futures, James Leigh, to deliver a programme designed for Year 12 pupils. The Programme aims to bring together Old Blues and Parents and match them with current Year 12 pupils to help them develop the skills required for life after school. With the assistance of Reading Blue Coat Connect, we will match pupils with Old Blues and Parents who are on the platform and are currently working in a career or sector that the pupil is interested in pursuing in the future. There will be a range of topics covered ranging from interview skills, decision- making and future planning. Mentoring is a such a valuable way of giving back; giving your time, sharing your experiences and helping pupils to really think about their futures. This mentorship programme will help foster a supportive and nurturing environment, bridging the gap between generations and facilitating the personal and professional development of Blue Coat pupils. If you would like to become a Mentor, or, find out more about what is involved, please get in touch with Foundation Manager Louise Smith (lms@rbcs.org.uk) who would be happy to discuss the programme in more detail and what it entails. The Mentoring Programme will be launched on RBC Connect so don’t forget to sign up now and watch out for future updates. Have you ever considered Mentoring? Reading Blue Coat Connect 3 4
