2 5 JoshBerry (2014) sat down with the infamous documentarian Louis Theroux for an evening of “comedy and conversation” in Shoreditch, just before Christmas last year. Loughborough Lightning’s Fran Williams (2016) has been selected in the Vitality Roses squad for this years Netball World Cup in Cape Town, South Africa. Best of luck Fran!!! AbbyDow (2016) recovered from a knee injury just in time to be selected to play for England in the Women’s Rugby World Cup in New Zealand last year. England made it to the finals but narrowly missed the win against New Zealand with a final score of 34-31. Tom Lightning (2018) and fellow Old Blue Leo de Frettes (2018) did a UK-wide climbing challenge at the end of July 2022 to raise money for MAPS (Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies), raising an incredible £2,204. In May this year Reading Blue Coat Old Blues golf team, Captained by Peter Handcock, headed down to Royal Ashdown Golf Course in mid Sussex to take part in the South West Qualifier of the Grafton Morrish Public School Old Boys Golf Tournament. It just wasn’t to be this year but the boys finished in 6th place which was still a great performance considering that they were up against the likes of Millfield, Dulwich College, Sherborne and Cranleigh and will be back fighting again next year. Thanks so much to this years players for representing the Old Blues, who are shown below (L-R) Maisie Jackson (2018) has taught herself fore-edge painting, which is painting beautiful scenes on the edges of book pages. Maisie is now selling her work across the world and creating works for major studios. Ollie Pink (2020) a current student at the University of Bristol gained recognition this year for helping to research, film and produce a documentary on the hidden lives of animals in the city; capturing the complexity of urban habitats! Ollie is pictured below in the back row, second from the left with the University of Bristol Wildlife Film Society. Cameron Beyaki (2021) an incredible rower whilst at Blue Coat secured a rowing scholarship and has been rowing for Harvard since September 2022. Ben Cole (2017), Ollie Vickery (2017), Sam Lawton-Davies (2017), Peter Handcock (2016), Matt Roberts (2017) Nathan Shaw (2015) Aisling Humphries-Griffiths (2015) The boat club had the privilege of naming one of their boats after Aisling Humphries-Griffiths. Aisling joined the Sixth Form at Blue Coat in 2013 and after having a fantastic 2 years coxing with the boys’ and girls’ squad at school, went on to have a very successful coxing career at Oxford Brookes University.
