FEATURE STORY Making a Difference By Ellie Slade (2015) When the Refugee crisis hit in 2016, I was moved by the plight of refugees fleeing their countries in the hope of finding safety. My friend James Perry, Old Blue (2015) was already involved with refugee work. I knew that I wanted to do something to help, so after graduating in 2019, I completed my TEFL certification and joined James in Northern Greece to teach English to refugees and asylum seekers at a Grassroot NGO called Second Tree. 16
