Josh Berry (2014) performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival with his show Josh Berry: Who Does He Think He Is? Beth O’ Shea (2015) became the President of the Glasgow University Charity Fashion Show which raised money for Glasgow Women’s Aid. Benjamin Hughes and Benedict Evans (both 2015) raised funds for their award-winning film ‘Wednesday in Space’. Congratulations to them both for well surpassing their original goal of £6,000 and raising over £11,000 instead! In April 2020, Old Blue Charlie Nicholls (2015) featured on BBC Wales 6 o’clock News. As a medical student, Charlie was speaking about what a privilege it was to help support the NHS in the fight against Covid-19. Abby Dow (2016) scored several tries for the England Women’s Rugby Teamduring the recent Six Nations competition thus contributing to England’s victory. Congratulations Abby and the Red Roses. Kenneth Simpson (2015) went to Japan to work with Scotland Rugby during the World Cup having just graduated from the University of Birmingham with a First Class BSc in Sports Therapy and is taking up an internship at London Scottish Rugby Club. Joe Bright (2016) was selected to represent England Rowing Team in the men’s 8 and the coxless 4 at the Home International Regatta. The whole team came to train at Blue Coat along with our former Assistant Head of Rowing, Tim Liversage, who is the team manager. The team won the England Men’s 8 at the Regatta. Thank you to Tom Stevenson (2016) who came to speak to Years 10-13 about his time as a an A-Level Geologist and is currently studying for a BSc in Geology at Durham University. Fran Williams (2016) is part of the England Netball team that won bronze at the 2019 Netball World Cup. Congratulations! Lucy Aldridge (2017) received a distinction during her course at Kent University. Lucy is studying Actuarial Sciences. Old Blue Mark Rogers (2017) took part in the Ironman 70.3 Staffordshire Triathlon along with Blue Coat current History teacher and Head of Year 8, Mr James Leigh. Marcus Corbin, Marcus Tait, Harry Smith and Ethan Chow (2018) received their Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award at Buckingham Palace. Thanks to James Hastings (2018) who came to speak in assembly about the Brass for Africa tour in 2016. James spoke to students about his experiences on the tour as Blue Coat planned a tour for 2020 that has been postponed to 2021. Josh Smart (2019) made his debut for London Irish 1st XV on 9th September 2020. The match was against Harlequins at Twickenham Stoop and was broadcast on BT Sport Extra. Thank you to Old Blues Dan Mussett (2020), Josh Smart (2019) and James Hastings (2018) who returned to School in October 2020 to speak to Year 11s about Sixth Form at Blue Coat. 2 3
