They’ve done it! The five 2018 Old Blues cycling from Land’s End to John O’Groats – James Hastings, Loic Pohl, Ed Martin, James Still and Ewan Morgan – to raise money for the Alexander Jansons Fund, have reached their destination, and have raised more than £2600.00 – at least £2000 more than their original target of £500. Here’s their final blog:
Dear all,
We are writing to you from the barren land of John o’Groats. 😃 Spirits are high here, as we celebrate in the local establishment. We have achieved our goal to cycle the length of the island, and raise money for the Alexander Janson Foundation. Today was a tough one. We opened with a colossal climb that would make Bradley Wiggins weep. This was followed by a devastating downhill, where we broke the 40mph boundary. At the bottom of this hill was a fierce hairpin bend going into another horrible hill, however we were saved by a remote tea room where we helped ourselves to cakes galore whilst fixing a puncture from Hastings. Continuing on our journey, Still’s navigation once again proved expensive in calories and time, however we persevered. Having left the A9, we enjoyed some of Scotland’s straightest roads taking us over the undulating hills. After passing through a farmer’s yard the finish line ebbed closer and closer, and, despite a puncture from e-morg, with a quick fix, we were soon at John o’Groats.
Thanks again for all the support and donations.
