Blue Coat boys reading everywhere

The summer holidays at Blue Coat  signal a time of rest, relaxation and, of course, the Summer Reading Challenge! This year, the challenge involved travelling the world through literature. Pupils were asked to read a fiction book, read a non-fiction book, cook something from a recipe, read a National Geographic article and complete a short piece of research – all relating to different continents of the world. Literature is an excellent way to feel as if you have travelled without actually having left your home.

The boys, as always, embraced the task: fiction books set in a variety of places, authors from different continents, research about distant lands and animals, and fun recipes! The photo element of the challenge proved a hit again, with many interesting entries.

Head Librarian Miss Knight said: “It is so good to see so many boys reading over the holidays and broadening their knowledge. The library team were thrilled with the entries. Speaking to the boys, it is clear that they enjoyed the challenge. Some have even asked what the challenge will be next year!”
