Reading Blue Coat Staff vs Prefects Football Match Raises £665.60 for Movember
This week saw Reading Blue Coat’s inaugural Staff versus Prefects football match as part of the school’s Movember fundraising efforts, raising an impressive £665.60 in support of men’s health.
The event was a student-led initiative, driven by the Heads of School, and provided a valuable opportunity for students to demonstrate leadership, teamwork and community spirit beyond the classroom. The match drew a strong crowd of students and staff, who lined the pitch and created a positive and supportive atmosphere throughout.
Played in excellent spirit, the fixture proved to be closely contested, with the Staff team emerging as 3–1 winners. A standout performance came from Mr Fairburn, who scored a hat trick for the staff side. The Prefects showed great team spirit and were rewarded with a well-taken goal from Year 13 Prefect Benjy.
Special recognition is due to Deputy Head of School Poppy, a key member of the Girls’ 1st XI and part of the Wycombe Wanderers academy, for her leadership and contribution to the organisation of the event.
The Prefects deserve particular credit for leading the initiative. The match was a clear reflection of the school’s strong sense of community and commitment to charitable causes.
The afternoon was a great success, combining competitive sport with meaningful fundraising, and highlighted the important role students play in supporting both school life and wider social causes.
