‘Jesus Hopped the 'A' Train’ review | Young Vic | Theatre in London

Year 11 and Year 13 Drama students saw an incredible production of ‘Jesus Hopped the A Train’ at the Young Vic Theatre in London last night. It was a master class in acting and direction. In addition we heard an incredible sound design by Peter Rice which reflected the volatility of the piece with live drum rolls through strategically placed speakers. Perfect for our GCSE Sound and Lighting designers, the play was staged in traverse (like ‘Anything Goes’) and was the final educational visit for Year 11 Drama students before their exams. Year 13 Drama students will see ‘The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time’ before they go on exam leave, but ‘Jesus Hopped the A Train’ was an incredible production which got a standing ovation for its mesmerising performances and design. Highly recommended by all, and a wonderful end to Kwame Kwei-Amah’s debut season as Artistic Director. We look forward to visiting the venue again for the next season of work. – Mrs Coccia-Clark, head of Drama
