Blue Coat managed to edge past St Bartholomew’s, Newbury in the final of the U12 County Football Cup.
In a closely contested match, Dominic C. put RBCS ahead just before half-time with a brave header, although goalkeeper Eddie N. had already earned the Man of the Match award. In the second half St Bart’s forced an equaliser and were on top before a thunderbolt of a free-kick from Tom E. put us ahead again, only for St Bart’s to equalise for a second time with two minutes remaining.
In the last minute, a long throw from Keir J. saw Esat P. jump in front of the St Bart’s goalkeeper to nod in the winner, winning us the Edgecombe Cup for only the second time in the school’s history!
Well done to all the boys and team coach Mr Simon Cook.
