As Day 2 of Activities week draws to a close and especially with the weather being so kind to our staff and students, viewers can be forgiven for mistaking this highlight in the school’s calendar as just an excuse for a holiday. However it is important we do not overlook the important and valuable lessons that our students will be learning this week. For some, it may be their first time away from home, especially with the restrictions imposed by Covid, and for others the physical challenges will have pushed them beyond what they thought was possible. Most likely they will arrive home tired, perhaps with a few scrapes and bruises or a little sunburned but definitely stronger. They will have learned about leadership, how to work as a team and support one another when things get tough and will have gained resilience. They will have lots of stories to share and will remember these experiences for many many years to come.
“One of the greatest discoveries a man makes, one of his great surprises, is to find he can do what he was afraid he couldn’t do.” Henry Ford
